What Highway Assistant does
BMW describes Highway Assistant as allowing hands-free operation up to 85 mph on controlled-access highways, subject to operating conditions. The driver must remain attentive. This capability does not establish eyes-off permission or general door-to-door automated driving.
Check the vehicle, equipment and price
Ask for a build sheet identifying the package, model year and trim. Obtain a written quote for required equipment and any activation or service plan. A vehicle’s starting MSRP alone does not establish the cost of this feature.

Check the roads you actually drive
List the highway segments on your regular journeys and compare them with the manufacturer’s operating rules. In a demonstration, check when the feature becomes available and when it asks you to resume control. Follow the manual and driver-monitoring prompts throughout.
